I’m Nate Harvey, a 22 year old composer and musician from Chesterfield, Virginia. I’ve had a lifelong love of music, beginning all the way back at the age of 5 when I first started taking piano lessons. In middle school, I began to play the cello, participating in the school orchestra all the way through high school and eventually into college. As a teen, I also started to dip my toes into composition, and had a particular fascination with video game music and sound design.
I attended the University of Mary Washington from 2021-2025, where I double majored in music and applied physics. It was here that I discovered my passion for audio engineering.
At UMW, I was a part of two independent research projects with the music department, for which we got funding from the university. The first was a continuation from another class the previous semester, where we built electronic instruments. I made a 12-tone generator out of an Arduino board, with multiple effect toggles and a 3D printed case to store the components in.
For the second research project, we were tasked with making a video game in Unity and creating and implementing sounds for it using Audiokinetic Wwise. You can play the game I made for it in one of the pages above. We also attended the North American Conference on Video Game Music in Cleveland, Ohio.
